i never knew...

I never knew how amazing it would feel to wake up next to you each morning. As your wife. I never knew as 20 somethings we could still watch cartoons in our pajamas, have snowball fights and go on 13 year old dates. I never knew that my heart could race as fast as it still does everytime I see you all dressed up for special occasions. I never knew how the simple things like laughing in the dark or jammin' to Bob Marley in our living room or eating Mac n' Cheese over candlelight could make my heart melt.




I never knew what the words challenge and compromise meant until I married you. I never knew how much you gave up to make my life easier. And, I don't think I ever publicly thanked you. So, thank you, my love. I never knew how marriage could be easy and tough at the same time. I never knew how much faith and strength would be tested until troubling times looked us right in the eyes. And, we couldn't run the other direction.

I never knew you liked to eat weird food together like I do. I never knew how much you wanted me to be a photographer until you agreed to be by my side. At all times. As long as I never quit. I never knew just how much you loved kids until I saw you jump, dance crazy and high five a bunch of toddlers. It is a wonder why they love you more.



I never knew how fighting for someone you love would be THIS worth it. I never knew your arms would feel like home. I never knew your sense of humor and corny jokes could ease my heart so quickly. I never knew your smile would make my knees go weak. Still. And, I never knew after 7 years, I would feel like that 19 year old gal who fell head over heels silly in love for you.
