his golden birthday

Every year, I look forward to the gathering at your Uncle Dale and Aunt Kathy's home. My favorite part is when we all gather in the kitchen to pray, but before we pray and eat, we go around in a circle to say what each of us are most grateful for that year. For the past seven years, I have held my composure together and said my I am thankful for... without letting a single tear slip. This year, in a kitchen full of 30 of our loved ones, all eyes turned to me. And, in what seemed like a millisecond, I realized I had tears streaming down my cheeks and choking out one word. Because aside from my infinite list of thanks my heart is incredibly grateful for this year, one stuck out the most: you.



B, I do not know where to begin. You definitely are one of a kind. You have a heart of gold. So much that when we volunteer and you talk to some of the residents and make them smile, my eyes start to turn into a watery mess. Your laughter is contagious. In fact, my favorite times together are watching our favorite shows just so I can hear your laugh; it fills me with an indescribable amount of joy. You have so much faith in those that you love and in God; it amazes me. Fear is something you rarely let overcome you. You give and give never asking for anything else in return. Ever. You support my crazy dreams with a big smile and a kiss. My favorite moments with you are lying in bed and listening to you tell your childhood stories because you tell them with so much color.

You have a smile that makes me wish I could fit in your pocket and never leave that said smile or your side. Despite of what you think, you are wildly talented with your Robin Williams voices, playing the guitar and singing tunes on Pandora or the radio. (I married myself an engineer by day and a rock star by night!) You are insanely intelligent, and I am SO proud of every accomplishment you have made this year, love. And, aside from making your own dreams come true, you have managed to find the time and patience to help me pursue my dreams. I do not know if I have said thank you enough for the countless amounts of laundry, dinners and grocery trips you have done, so I can make those big, crazy dreams come true. Thank you thank you thank you from the bottom of my heart, honey! It is a wonder why I want four little boys just like you.



This is just the beginning of the list of why you are an amazing man and hubby. And, I am so happy that God graced us with your presence in this world twenty-nine years ago from today. I am even more grateful that our paths crossed eight years ago, and I got my version of a tall, dark and handsome country boy with a heart bigger than my own. So, on your GOLDEN birthday and the last year as a twenty something (you know I had to give you a little bit of a hard time!), I just want to say this...I hope every wish you make today comes true today. Because I could not think of someone more deserving.
