two words

I remember it so clearly I could paint this picture on a canvas. We were eating at TGIF's in the Dallas airport on our way back from our oh so wonderful honeymoon. We were still in that honeymoon bliss and for the life of us could not wipe off those silly smiles off our faces. The kind of smiles that just have we-are-way-too-happy-to-be-married written all over our faces. That is when he walked in. With his one duffel bag. In uniform with a U.S. Army patch over his heart.

He was not any older than Bryan. And, I could not help but notice the wedding band on his ring finger. It hit me pretty hard. He has a wife at home. Maybe some little ones of his own. And, here I was taking life for granted. Because while he is fighting for our country, I am going home with my new husband, I am given the chance to wake up next to him every morning and I am able to spend dinners with him. However, I never take into consideration the millions and millions of men and women who choose to do something so noble that they are looked at as angels. They choose to fight for our country, fight for our freedom and fight for our right to live. Freely. While some of us are worrying about what to make for dinner, arguing with our loved ones about cleaning up their room or not washing the dishes and getting sad because we don't have the very best car or the best home, there are those who have a dad, mum, sister, brother, daughter, son, niece, nephew, uncle, aunt, boyfriend, girlfriend, fiance, neighbor, best friend, husband or wife on another continent fighting for us. For our lives that we are living each day. Here.

I should have gone up to that man that day and said thank you. Thank you for everything you do. Thank you for giving up everything so you can fight for our country. Thank you for serving for our country. Thank you for everything and more. I did not do this, and I regret this. Very much.

Next time you see a man or woman in uniform, just go up to them and say the two little words that are so simple but hold so much meaning to them: THANK YOU! You might wonder what brought this up. Let's just say I was reading something and found out a 20 year old young man lost his life in war. Not a day goes by that his family and friends do not remember his legacy and commend him for everything he did. I did not know this young man, but you can say after reading some notes from his loved ones, I was one hot mess. To the point where Bryan had to get up from his desk and wipe tears away. Have I mentioned, I cry easily? Everyday, I hear through church, the news and the Internet about the lives that are lost of these people who chose to do one of the most noble careers and who deserve everything and more. They truly are heroes. So here is a BIG THANK YOU to those who have served, are serving or will be serving for our country, so we can live safely, happily and freely in the US. Thank you thank you thank you.

No post is complete without a photo, so here is a sneak peak of what is to come tomorrow! Yes, that is right, the first full wedding post is coming to a blog near you, so be on the lookout. I promise, it will not disappoint!

OMG!! It took my breath away. It's so easy to forget what man or woman in uniform do for the country to keep us safe so we can breathe easier. Thank you for the lovely gesture you had for today. Love Mom

Hello,

I started following your blog accidentally and ever since you updated your blog, I can't see your pics in my google reader. Just wanted to let you know just in case other people are reading it as well.

Hmm...I am not sure why that is happening. I have not heard this yet from anyone, so I do not know if that is something I can fix. It might be an error on Google Reader's end. So far, I have friends, families and other readers telling me it is working. I'm sorry for this. Is there any suggestions you might have?

There might be something with Flicker and it is not working on my computer. It keeps asking me to login then I don't have the permissions. No worries :)
