family: brian+karen+reed+blake+kenzie

I did not know what to expect. I never know what to expect. They were new clients. And, I always get a bit nervous when meeting new clients. All I know is that I need to be myself. And, that we were ready to entertain and have fun for the next hour or so while I took pictures. As soon as Brian and Karen got our of their car, I was at ease. That is all it takes usually. A welcoming smile, a handshake and the kids who are ready to have fun. It helps that there was a Brian in the family! Always a good sign. (I am partial to Bryans.) Instantly, that nervousness that I speak of, well it disappeared. And it was replaced with excitement.

Karen did not know it, but when she handed each of the kids their fun prop near the end of the session, I could not help but think how perfect it represented each of Brian and her three children. A football, a jump rope and bubbles. Three fun props for three very different but beautiful children. First there is Reed. Can you guess which of the three belongs to him? The football. To me it screamed Reed. Tough, in love with anything related to sports and very particular. As for Blake, she was linked to the jump rope. And it happened to be her perfect fit. Because Blake, well Blake is incredibly active. And, adventurous. That of course leaves the bubbles which belong to Miss Kenzie. Bubbles in my world express fun, calming and creative feelings which all play a part of Miss Kenzie's world. Who would have known that the same three props brought to just have fun would match up to each of the kids so well! I love symbolism. Yes, I am a book nerd. Go on...make fun!

Brian and Karen, thank you for your patience. Most of all, thank you for bringing three VERY well-behaved children to our session and for making my job incredibly easy! We had a wonderful time getting to know each of you and feel so blessed that you chose me to document your family. The realness that is of your family. The laughs, the not-everyone-is-looking-in-the-same-direction and the joy. Thank you.
